The clinical situation of the patient who needs Implant Treatment

Patients who need implant treatment suffer from edentulism, the lack of one or more teeth. The causes for this pathology can be different but the most frequent is periodontitis, an inflammation of all the tissue sorrounding the tooth which has the main function of keeping it attached to the bone. Edentulism causes both physical problems, such as the difficulty of chewing and digesting food, but also aesthetic and social relationships.

In medicine you cannot have clients but only patients. This is the idea that guides us in our daily commitment to offer the best dental care.

    Mobile and semi-fixed prostheses

Mobile and semi-fixed prostheses are an alternative to Implants. These prostheses can be of different types and can make up for the lack of one or more teeth. If they concern the entire dental arch, these prostheses must be “glued”; on the contrary, if there are only a few teeth missing in the patient’s mouth, these prostheses can be attached to the remaining teeth. However they have considerable limitations, both in functionality and aesthetics.

    Why Implants are better?

    • They improve your appearance. They look and feel just like your own teeth.
    • Improve comfort. Implants fuse with your bone and become an integral part of you.
    • Last a long time. High quality materials make implants virtually permanent.
    • Improve Speech. Implants are fixed, unlike dentures which might move around and slur your speech.
    • Do not impare eating. Unlike protheses they do not cause pain or difficulties, while eating your favourite food.
    • Improve your self-esteem. They simply look stunning so you can smile more!

    Implantological Dental Care

After a period of hospitalization necessary for the implant to be welded with the bone, a metal pin, the abutment, is installed on the implant, on which one or more composite teeth are mounted, the crowns, which replace the patient’s natural teeth. The implant graft in the patient’s mouth is a real surgical operation that requires a doctor who specializes in implantology, not a simple dentist, and with adequate professional experience. So the preparation and professional experience of those who install the systems are very important.

    Are Implants always successful?

The dental implants are made of titanium, a metal alloy that does not cause rejection and that integrates perfectly with the bone. For this reason, the loss of an implant a few months after surgery is always caused by incorrect management by the doctor or patient; much more rarely this loss is caused by the patient’s clinical condition or by a critical bone condition where the implant has been installed. Here the experience and ability of the implantologist is essential to have a greater chance of successful installation.

At Dental Turk, our veteran staff boast an Implants success rate of 98% in more than 3000 operations to date.

Dental implants are of different types in size and shape, this leads to different osseointegration times. In the same way, the process of union between bone and implant can vary according to the surgical techniques used during implant treatments. From this point of view, in the case of a total lack of teeth by the patient, there are three main types of implant treatments:

    The traditional Implant

The traditional implant is based on the insertion of 6/8 arch implants on which crown bridges are installed. In this case the osseointegration times vary from one week to a few months depending on the patient’s clinical condition and the type of implant used.

    The All on Four

The All on four is based on the concept that the crown bridge is installed only on four titanium implants that are grafted into the bone with a particular technique. This implantology technique is used when the patient has a bone situation which does not allow the installation of a greater number of implants. However, this installation requires osseointegration times similar to those of the traditional implant.

    The immediate Loading

The immediate loading is the last frontier of implantological care and allows the patient to install fixed prostheses only 72 hours after surgery. It should be noted that in the first installation, a soft resin prosthesis is always mounted in the patient’s mouth which is then replaced, after about two months, by the definitive prosthesis. The big advantage is that mechanically the patient can use his teeth to eat after a couple of weeks after surgery, and he already has a fixed prosthesis in his mouth.

    The types of Crowns

Crowns, as mentioned, are composite teeth that replace the patient’s natural teeth. Just as there are different types of implants and implant techniques, there are also different types of crowns based on the materials they are made of. The material determines the resistance and, above all, the aesthetics of the final result. In fact, the classic ceramic metal crowns, which have been used for several years, have great aesthetic limitations. For this reason they have been replaced, for about twenty years, by the zirconium ceramic crowns which are more resistant, have less heat and cold passage and, above all, have an aesthetic result much more similar to the patient’s natural teeth. For those who want to have perfectly white teeth, the same as that of movie stars, you can use the E-max material that allows you to have what is called the “Hollywood smile”.

The techniques described above cannot be applied to all patients but each one of them requires personalized therapy, according to their clinical picture for this reason, the most suitable therapeutic solution must be studied for each patient.
